VIA CRUCIS

Via Crucis - La Via Dolorosa

The work "Via Crucis - La Via Dolorosa" is based on the fourteen stations that make up the Via Crucis.

For narrative coherence of the images (also in relation to the resources available), I decided to draw on both the traditional and biblical Via Crucis stations.

To the fourteen stations, two significant passages from the Gospel of Luke were added, which testify to the resurrection of Jesus. Another narrative license was to depict the encounter between Mary and Jesus without the patibulum, even though the station of Cyrene is the next.

A great deal of research was done to ensure historical consistency. Clothing, uniforms, armor, footwear, jewelry, and accessories were chosen or specifically crafted so that no element in the frame appears historically incorrect.
