MISANTROPO

What happens in a theatrical performance if you remove the stage, stalls, wings, and all those elements that separate the audience from the actors? And not only that. What happens if the actors, already in the foyer, mingle with the audience for an aperitif before entering the theater together, making even this simple ritual an integral part of the show?

And then, what happens if the performance takes place among the audience, with the audience deciding which character to watch, which scene to observe, which actor to focus on, becoming in turn the director of the theatrical performance. And finally… what happens when you have to be a set photographer, when there's no set, or filming backstage when the scenes, in their traditional sense, no longer exist?

Welcome to the Teatro Argot, welcome to Francesco Frangipane's adaptation of Molière's The Misanthrope.

Welcome to… or rather, welcome inside the show itself.

And if you're inside the show, the best way to tell this event through photography was to immerse myself in the audience, photographing it through the eyes of the audience. The actors' expressions combined with the spectators' expressions, two sides of the same show. Welcome to the theater. Welcome "inside" the scenes of "The Misanthrope."
